Sad to hear for the 900 workers, however, Ford is doing SOMETHING right to stay a profitable company without the BHO stimulas money

So what has happened to the stimulus, hope, and change? All the new jobs seem to be overseas.

They "MAKE" billions but then people have put TRILLIONS into the company. And if you're thinking "corporations are owned by fat cats" figure out who really owns them. It's Main Street, people!
>I wonder what will happen to our elections when the corporation(s) >begin spending some of their billions on election campaigns against >the common worker who is just trying to make ends meet.
I don't think it will move much of anything.
Most companies already have PACs and shareholder action networks.

The full article says Ford has openings in Chicago and Wayne (MI).
When I worked, more than once did I move to follow the work.

Get real, it is not unions that are driving prices up. Oil companies make billions while still getting tax breaks that the common man/woman pays for. I wonder what will happen to our elections when the corporation(s) begin spending some of their billions on election campaigns against the common worker who is just trying to make ends meet.

Hope that Ford is planning to move the 900 employees to a nearby plant and not to one halfway across the country. Poor Michigan already has the highest unemployment in the U.S.A.

I agree with some of the next message that they are cutting back because the union would not bend with them and it is time they take a stand. Conservation keeps your money in your pocket.

Great. Get rid of those union featherbedders and move the jobs to a non-union shop elsewhere.

900 people is ridiculous for a layoff. For a company that didn't use money to stay out of bankruptcy, they are sure messing up alot of employees lives.

I am surprised Ford has been able to keep two shifts of Mustang workers busy until now.
I just don't see a lot of Mustang sales now (winter time) nor in the future.
Glad to see Ford is trying to move "good" workers to other locations.

Sorry to hear that, but Ford has to keep its production in line with sales. That's what got GM into trouble. GM just kept churning them out, and they weren't selling.

Sorry to hear of more losses in Michigan. They don't need more bad news and lost jobs. Hurting very bad there.
The article has some net good news. Moving jobs around and trying to adjust as needed to stay in business.
GO Ford! Our Ford Fusions are doing fine. Keep up the good work.

You got that right KYRunner!
Get rid of OSHA! Repeal the child labor laws! Let corporations dump what ever they want in any water supply that is handy! Play off SMOG as a benificial screen agaist that nasty nasty SUN! Allow any offense againt the many to maximize profits for the few!
And with the Suprime Court allowing coprorations to buy any politician they want, you'll likely get your wish!

As much as I hate to see the loss of jobs Ford must do everything possible to stay in business without any government bailouts. They too will be toast if they fall into the trap that GM and Chrysler are operating under. Private businesses must remain free from any government control if they expect to survive.

Hey! If you read the full article, it also says, "Ford recently announced it will hire 1,200 workers at its Chicago Assembly Plant to build the new Ford Explorer."
That's a net GAIN of 300 jobs.
Wonder why that wasn't the headline?

They should be building cars that run on natural gas. If they build them for other countries they can build them for us. We should not let China have our clean natural gas from Alaska.
