And possibly self-promotion. (I can say that, since I grew up in Tulsa....)

energy **independence** is still a wrong term. Lower dependence is the better word.

"At least it sounds like Oklahoma has a plan." Yes he does - and he announced it before he took office. His goal is to make gas so expensive that few can afford it, and will switch to other forma of transportation - Public transportation, bicycles, and walking! White House Wants to Keep Gas Prices High

Oklahoma taking lead in energy independence – oil, natural gas, solar, wind, biofuels, nuclear. BUT, Big Oil continues to sell fuel and natural gas on the world market for higher prices, there will be NO price reduction for the cost of fuel or natural gas IN the US. 'Coming out of the closet' Fred's lousy, smoke and mirrors, lack of jobs, dog and pony show and in the crapper economy, the jobs are Not here. Fred's economy is not improving but continues to hurt the population and the job numbers continue to be down – no matter how smoooooth talking Fred spins those numbers! People will still drive and buy fuel no matter what but it sure helps to have a job too! Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

Sounds a bit like a political discourse in an election year but has some merit. Keep Bozama away. 36 days until the ejection.

“And what does energy independence with the price of gas?”
Looks like a couple of words are missing but I get the drift; why do you ask, Sydb? Energy independence is an important and timely subject. Try reading the Newsville guidelines; you will learn that this type of material qualifies.

Don't have a problem reading Gov Mary Fallon's beating of the energy independence drum. Lot easier to stomach than the bankrupt the economy "green energy" garbage that's been coming out of 1600 Pennsylvania.
A few notes about OK, energy production, & local trends. Per capita in the OKC metro area there are more CNG powered cars & trucks on the road than anywhere in the country. The East Coast crowd on this site might not realize that or like it, but its a well known fact. The OKC metro area is one of the few metro areas in the country that's air standards do not require oxygenated fuels. Hydraulic fracturing has been going on in OK for nearly 60 years & our water wells, streams & lakes are in great shape. Western OK has its share of wind farms, though nowhere near as popular an energy producing component in OK as they are in Iowa. Commercial scale solar would be very difficult to install in the Southern Plains. Unfortunately, the region is too susceptible to violent weather including hail. I only have to go outside to see what this summers hailstones did to my homes solar system.
